PRIVATE CHATEL TRANSFERS FROM GENEVA AIRPORT

Your Geneva to Chatel airport transfer starts the moment your driver meets you in the arrivals hall at Geneva Airport. Every booking is completely private, just your group from start to finish, with no shared shuttles and no waiting around for other passengers. The drive from Geneva to Chatel takes around 1 hour 30 minutes, dropping you directly at your chalet, hotel, or apartment in the village.

Chatel sits right on the French-Swiss border in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, and we know the route and the resort well. The approach into the Vallée d’Abondance is one of the most scenic transfers we do, and we are happy to share tips along the way on the best sectors to ski, current snow conditions across the area, and local recommendations for eating and drinking in the village. By the time you arrive, you will already feel settled in.

Our private Chatel ski transfers are built around your group and your flight. We track your arrival in real time, handle all ski bags and luggage, and take care of everything so you can focus on the holiday ahead. Whether you are heading to Chatel for a relaxed family ski week, to explore the full Portes du Soleil, or simply because you love the authentic village atmosphere it offers, we will get you there in comfort and on time.

CHATEL RESORT GUIDE

Chatel is one of the most charming and genuinely French villages in the Portes du Soleil, and one of the best kept secrets in a ski area that most people associate with the more famous names of Avoriaz and Morzine. Sitting at around 1,200m in the Vallée d’Abondance in Haute-Savoie, just 1 hour 30 minutes from Geneva Airport, it sits right on the French-Swiss border and combines traditional Savoyard architecture, working farms, and a tight-knit community with access to one of the largest ski areas in the world. Unlike many of its neighbours, Chatel has kept its authentic village character, with timber-framed chalets, a Wednesday farmers market, and a pace of life that feels genuinely unhurried even at the height of the season.

The skiing directly above Chatel covers 83km of pistes across three main sectors: Super-Chatel, Linga, and Pre la Joux, ranging from 1,050m up to 2,200m. The terrain suits beginners and intermediates particularly well, with a good mix of wide open runs, tree-lined blues, and rewarding reds, while the off-piste options above Linga and in the Espace Liberté sector offer more than enough to keep stronger skiers happy for a week. The real draw, however, is Chatel’s position at the heart of the Portes du Soleil, the vast cross-border ski area covering 650km of pistes across 12 linked French and Swiss resorts. Avoriaz is just 20 minutes away by lift from Pre la Joux, opening up the full circuit including Les Gets, Morzine, Champery, and Morgins on the Swiss side. With 300 marked runs and 197 lifts on a single pass, the options are almost limitless.

Away from the slopes, Chatel punches well above its size. The village has a good selection of traditional Savoyard restaurants, relaxed bars, and a friendly local atmosphere that rewards those who take the time to explore beyond the main strip. Families are particularly well catered for, with a creche taking children from three months, three ESF ski schools, and gentle beginner terrain right in the village at Super-Chatel. Non-skiers can enjoy snowshoeing, the Fantasticable zip line, paragliding, an ice rink, and the aquatic centre, while the medieval village of Yvoire on the shores of Lake Geneva makes a memorable day trip. Whether you are visiting Chatel for the first time or returning for the tenth season in a row, it is the kind of resort that gives a little more of itself the better you get to know it.
